OnePlus 2 vs Google Nexus 5x

The OnePlus 2, dubbed as the Flagship killer 2016, is a highly anticipated phone launched just a few months back, whereas the Google Nexus 5x was launched hardly a few days back.

Both the phones, to start of with are popular for its own reasons. The Nexus 5x, is Google's own phone manufactured by LG. It has stock Android and will get the next versions of Android very quick.
On the other hand, OnePlus is a newbie in the industry which has already come up with 2 amazing phones and an EVEN BETTER marketing strategy.

What this article will cover.

In this article, we will be covering all the major aspects of the phone like

  • Hardware
  • Software
  • Camera
  • Battery
  • Connectivity
Hardware

Both the phones come with a similar screen size. The Nexus 5x is 5.2 inches with a pixel density of 423 and the OnePlus 2 comes with a 5.5 inch screen with a pixel density of 401 ppi. The two phones come with the same resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. This says that the screen to body ratio in the OnePlus 2 is 73.23% and 70.05 in the 5X. The colours of the phones are also the same, being at 16M.

The 5X will come with a more plastic body whereas the OnePlus 2 has more of metal.
Coming to the strength of the screen, both have a scratch resistant display. The 5x has a Corning Gorilla glass 3 display whereas the OnePlus 2 has a Gorilla glass 4 display.

The 5X comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor and the OP 2 has a Snapdragon 810
The Nexus 5X has more and vibrant colours when compared to the OnePlus 2, it comes in three colours- Carbon ( like black ), Ice ( Shade of green ) and Quartz ( off white ) The Nexus 5X comes in 2 versions, 16GB and the 32 GB. The OnePlus 2 is available in just one- 64GB
Both of them come with dual nano sim cards.

Software

The Google 5X has Android Marshmallow 6.0 pre installed whereas the OnePlus 2 comes with Android Lollipop. However, the OP 2 will get the Marshmallow update.
Both the phones come with Light and Proximity sensors. Both of them come with fingerprint sensors, making your phone safe. The OP 2 also has fingerprint sensing which is faster than most of the other phones which come with a fingerprint sensor.

Camera

Hardly any difference in the camera of the two phones, the Google 5X comes with a 13  megapixel camera whereas the OnePlus 2 has a 13 megapixel camera. Also, they are same in their flash. Both of the phones come with a dual LED flash with Aperture of F2.0 in both the devices. The phones have Face detection, Self-timer, Autofocus (Laser), Touch to focus, Geo tagging. The Op 2, along with this also has Optical image stabilization, Smile detection and digital zoom.

Coming to the video, again they do not have much difference in the specs. Both of them have the exact same features.  Burst mode, High Dynamic Range mode (HDR), Panorama, Scenes are present in both of the phones.
4K available in both of them, makes them very good phones for seeing videos. Again, both the phones have one more similarity. A 5 megapixel front facing camera is present in both of them. Already thinking that these phones are like copy;s of one another? I felt the same too.

Battery
The OnePlus 2 is one step ahead in the battery. It comes with a 3300 mAh Li - Polymer battery whereas a 2700 mAh Li - ion battery is present in the Google Nexus 5X. 3G talktime in the 5X is approximately 17 hours and the standby time is 12.5 days. The talk time in the OnePlus 2 is approximately 30:30 hours. Seem this is a big difference? NO. Many OnePlus 2 users, including me have been complaining about the low battery life, however this happens to many phones and OnePlus will hopefully be able to solve the problem in its upcoming software updates very soon.

Connectivity

Not many differences here too, the Google Nexus 5X comes with a bluetooth version of 4.2 wheres in the OnePlus 2, it is 4.1. One of the best things in these two phones is, oh, yeah both the phones, again. Is that they come with the next version of connector. They have a USB type C cable which can be used in both the sides and is reversible much like Apple's lightning cable, if you are familiar with it.

Price

The most important " feature " of any phone you buy. Price. The OnePlus 2 is much cheaper of the two, it comes for rupees 25000 whereas the Nexus 5X starts from 31,900 for the 16GB version and 35,900 for the 32 GB version. A whopping 10,000 difference between the phones though the Oneplus 2 has double the memory that comes in the 5X.

All other small features are almost the same in both the phones, so we will not be discussing about that.

VERDICT: Not much of a difference in the hardware, but a 5.5 inch phone, too big. Right? However you might like a bigger screen as you will have a larger screen for Games and Movies. But the 5X has a better ppi which means a better display. The OnePlus 2 looks premium because of more of metal, we are not very sure about the 5X for now. But we think the OnePlus's hardware will be better. You will like the 5X if you want a funky phone. Or just buy a case for the OP 2.
Coming to the software, there is absolutely no difference, except that the 5X will get more updates and faster.
The battery is much better in the OnePlus 2, as we already wrote about it above.
Speaking about Connectivity Again, just a few minor differences in the two, the Bluetooth is slightly better in the Google Nexus 5X.
Price: 10,000 rupee difference! The OnePlus 2 wins!

So, if you can get an invite easily, OnePlus 2 is your phone!
