Most of you would have already seen all the new features , specs, design the Samsung Galaxy S7 comes with. But not many would have seen this new feature of "app icon masking" the Galaxy S7 has.
First of all, for those of you who don't know what icon masking is, the logo's of apps on your phone come in different sizes and sizes. Some social media apps like Facebook and Instagram have a squarish icon but others like Twitter come in completely unique shapes.
Or, just take Apple for example. All the app icons which are not square shaped are resized into a white background.
So, to make your phone look more neat, the Galaxy S7 has a feature called icon masking, which takes the icons of apps that don’t match Samsung's theme and then enhances them by placing each on a similarly shaped rounded square.
Look at the images below for examples of the Galaxy S6 icons vs. the icons on the Galaxy S7.
Samsung isn’t forcing this on their next flagship device, but instead are offering up a “icon customization” with which you can do this.
