This guy made a "Smart Mirror" based on Android because he couldn't buy one

Last year, a Google software engineer Max Braun thought that he needed a Smart Mirror, just like the ones which were seen in movies. The mirrors you could touch to get more information.

In his post on Medium, Braun describes that he wanted to have a smart mirror for his mirror, just like one has a smartphone or a smart watch.

He says that he could not find one in the market (obviously!) so he decided to make one. He got the raw supplies and crafts, a switch board and a display from the market. He used a two way mirror for this.
With the a bit of experimenting, he says, he was able to create a smart mirror that sits on the door to the medicine cabinet showing him the weather, time, date, news and reminders, using Android APIs.
He also added that he is trying to add everything like traffic, reminders which has a Google Now Card, onto his Smart a mirror.
The UI of the mirror is made such that the user does not actually need to interact with it. Instead, it should update automatically, with an open-ended voice search interface for everything else.
The display is only a couple of millimeters thin and embedded in a layer between the two-way mirror glass and the door of the medicine cabinet. That way it looks very clean and one can keep using all the shelf space inside.
Braun said that he wanted to keep the mirror as simple as possible, so it would have the same colour as seen in the picutes, exept for when it is a sunny day.
The prototype is still in progress. According to the developer, he is experimenting with different devices to run it—initially Chromecast, then Nexus Player, and most recently Fire TV stick.
This looks like some cool innovation which will allow us to see something more on glass panels, just like it happens in the movies.
I'm eager to buy this product as soon as it releases in the market. What about you? Do tell us in the comments!
