OnePlus X? The OnePlus 1 is a better buy.

If you're a OnePlus fan, you would have already seen a lot of posts praising the OnePlus' new phone; The OnePlus X. Yes, it has an all new look very different from the OnePlus 1 and 2. The phone has got a all new glossy finish back panel which looks very similar to the Sony Xperia smartphones.

The OnePlus one features a 5.5 LCD screen protected with Gorilla glass 3. On the other hand, the OnePlus X  comes with a smaller 5 inch amoled display along with the same type of gorilla glass.

In the inside parts of both the phones, there's hardly any difference. The OnePlus X and the OnePlus 1 come with the same Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 quad-core chipset paired with 3GB of RAM. The OnePlus one was available in 16 and 64GB versions, but the OnePlus X comes with only 16GB memory, however it has an additional SD Card slot expandable upto 128GB.

Coming to photography, there again isn't much change in the camera's. Both the phones have the same 13Megapixel back camera. The primary camera on the OnePlus One came with f/2.0 aperture and a Sony Exmor IMX214 image sensor. The camera on the X comes with f/2.2 aperture, ISOCELL image sensor, and Phase Detection Auto focus, which the company claims is good enough to focus on a subject in less than a second. Up front, the OnePlus One came with a 5-megapixel camera, while the OnePlus X features an 8-megapixel snapper.

The OnePlus x also comes with smaller battery. It has a 2525mAh battery which is pretty lesser to the 3100mAh battery in the One. Also, both the phones currently have the same versions of android. Lollipop 5.1.1

So, mainly, with a smaller screen size, a smaller battery and the even more frustrating invite system, i'd buy the OnePlus One. However OnePlus told that it will have weekly open sales for the device starting from the month of December.

Although, if you want to buy the OP One, its not going to be available forever. here is what OnePlus India general manager had to say
The OnePlus One will eventually be discontinued. While there was no mention of a timeframe, Agarwal said that it won’t happen before the end of this year.
Some of the plus points of this phone compared to the One is that it will be appreciated by users with smaller hands,  Alert Slider switch is a good option to have, while the options for expanding the memory,  are considered as advantages. Factor in the slightly lower price tag, ( very slightly ) and the OnePlus X has a lot going for it when compared to the One.
