Qualcomm announces 2 new smartphone chipsets

Qualcomm, the leading smartphone chipset manufacturer announced the two new mobile processors to their Snapdragon family today, the 430 and 617. These new processors will be used in the mid-range smartphones bringing mainly several connectivity and media improvement to this range.

The Snapdragon 617 chipset improves the connectivity and multimedia fronts with support for X8 LTE that supports Cat 7 download speeds up to 300 Mbps and upload of up to 100 Mbps.
The chip also shares the same software enhancements; dual-ISP and camera architecture of the Snapdragon 618 and 620.

The Snapdragon 430 now supports a new generation of 4G--X6 LTE with cat 6 download speeds of up to 150 Mbps and Cat 5 upload speed at the highest of 75Mbps. The chip also includes a featre called carrier aggregation which allows phones to bond carrier frequency bands resulting in much faster data transfer rates within a given area coverage.

On the multimedia side, the 430 will now have support for dual camer with sensors up to 21 megapixels.

Both of these latest processors utilize the power- efficient ARM cortex A53 CPU in octa-core configurations with special high-definition audio. We expect the Snapdragon 617 to be commercially available by the end of this year and the Snapdragon 420 to make its way into mobiles in the second half of 2016

We hope these will take the mobile into the next level as there is already a lot of competition in the mid-range sector.
