Nexus 6P vs iPhone 6S Plus. Who wins?

Both the phones, the Google Nexus 6P and the iPhone 6S are the latest Android and iOS phones. The Google Nexus 6P is built by huawei and has very good specs whereas the iPhone 6S too has excellent specifications compared to other Apple phones.

In this comparison article, we will look at the following aspects of the phones

  • Design & Hardware
  • Display
  • Camera
  • Battery
  • Software
  • Verdict
6s, iPhone, 6s Plus stand for iPhone 6S Plus in this article.
6p, Nexus, Huawei stand for Google Nexus 6P in this article.
Design & Hardware

The Nexus 6P will come with the latest up-to-date version Android has ever seen, the Android Marshmallow 6.0 whereas the 6S Plus will have the iOS 9. Not much comparison here, as they both are based on completely different software's, I always liked the UI of iOS more than Android, may it be stock or anything else.

The 6P and 6S have almost the same dimensions. the 6P is slightly bigger as it comes in dimensions of 6.27 x 3.06 x 0.29 inches (159.3 x 77.8 x 7.3 mm) and the iPhone 6S is available in size of 6.23 x 3.07 x 0.29 inches (158.2 x 77.9 x 7.3 mm).

Coming to the weight, the Nexus is 7% lighter than the iPhone. The 6P is 178 g whereas the 6S is 192 g mainly because Apple has used stronger materials so it would not have any problems like the bendgate in the iPhone 6 series.

Both the phones give buyers a choice of variety of colours, the nexus 6p comes in Black, Grey and White while the iPhone 6S comes in Grey, Pink, Gold and Silver. Whatever colour Apple chooses, their phones always look good and much premium than any other phone. Oh, it comes with a price tag too...

The 6P has the latest Snapdragon chip, the Snapdragon 810 with a 3GB RAM while the iPhone 6S has its own chip by Apple, the A9 chip along with a 2GB RAM.

This year, Apple's iPhone luckily does not have the bendgate problem, but the ChipGate issue. Apple has chosen two manufacturers, one is based out of Taiwan and the other is Samsung. Yes, Samsung, Apples biggest rival. So as the phones come with chips made by two companies, they differ in sizes and a little in performance. ( We will try doing a detailed review of this soon )

No such issues in the memory, both of the phones come with an option of 128 GB Memory.

Display

Are you a big time mobile gamer, or a movie watcher, then only i would suggest you to go with the Google Nexus 6p. it has a big 5.7" Amoled display, the iPhone 6S has an IPS LCD display. There is quite a bit of difference in the resolution of the phones, the 6p has a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and the iPhone comes with 1080 x 1920 pixels. The pixel density of the Nexus and iPhone is 518 and 401 ppi respectively.

Both the phones, like almost any other smartphone have 16M colours each. Both of these phones have Light sensor, Proximity sensor, Force Touch, Scratch-resistant glass, Oleophobic coating.

Camera

Hardly any difference in the megapixels of the cameras of the two phones, the nexus 6p has a 12.3 megapixel camera whereas the iPhone 6S has a 12.0 megapixel camera. I call this difference as good as null.
The flash of both of the phones is a dual LED flash.

The front facing cameras of the 2 phones have a notable difference in the megapixels. The 6p has an 8 MP camera while the iPhone 6s has a 5 megapixel camera. Although, Apple camera's are great even though they have less megapixels.

Both of these phones are capable to take the latest 4K resolution videos which is very uncommon on mobile devices as of now. Although, Apple really has a good brain in the working of cameras, it has beautiful good-looking modes of slow motion which takes the looks of some videos to a whole new level.

Battery

In terms of the given capacity of the battery, the iPhone loses to the Google Nexus 6P. The iPhone has a 2750 mAh battery while the Nexus comes with 3450 mAh battery capacity.
The Nexus 6p also has fast charging which is missing in the Apple iPhone 6S plus
As always for most of the newer devices, the battery is not user replaceable.

Buy the Google Nexus 6P 64GB for Rs 42,999 ( $699 ) or the 32 GB Google Nexus 6P for Rs 39,999 ( $650 )

Buy the Apple iPhone 6S Plus 64GB for Rs 82,000 ( $850 ) or the 16GB iPhone 6S Plus for Rs 72,000 ( $750 )

Verdict

The Nexus is too big for a phone, i'd buy the iPhone looking at the size but the Nexus looking at the weight of the phone.
Although the 6P has a 3GB RAM and the iPhone has a 2GB RAM, the 2GB in the iPhone does equally well for itself.

The ppi of the 2 phones varies a lot, but the retina display in the iPhone balances this point which makes the display of both the phones look equally good.
The 6S Plus and the 6P have almost the same camera's, I have not seen the 6P's camera as of now, but I am pretty sure the iPhones camera clarity will be better.
The 6P has a much bigger battery than the iPhone 6S plus and also has got fast charging which makes the battery of the 6P be better.

So, if you've got the money, the iPhone 6S Plus is not a bad choice but getting almost the same things in a much cheaper Nexus 6P, I will buy the Nexus 6P. Although, the finish of the 6s plus is much better than the 6P. ( Finish matters a lot! )
